Interview with Mr. Lincoln

As the 2019-2020 school year began, Wilson welcomed three new counselors, one of whom is Mr. Lincoln. Mr. Lincoln quickly became known for his ever-present smile and great sense of humor. His passion and dedication for helping students succeed is most evident. This is a transcript of our interview:

What is your name? John Lincoln

From what school did you come? I worked at Southeast Middle School for six years and Le Conte Middle School for eighteen years

What are your hobbies? Water skiing, traveling, and swimming

What is it like being a counselor? Extremely busy, very rewarding, and every day is an adventure

What is the most frustrating part of being a counselor? When the computer system does not cooperate

When are you available and when are you not? Students may visit me during class time, as long as they have a pass from their teacher. They can also find me during lunch in the old college quad area

What motivates you? I love the feeling of helping students succeed academically

What part of your job does not pose a challenge?

Talking with friendly students

What are you most looking forward to this school year? The college field trips I am organizing, a high 9th grade success rate, and meeting new students and friends

Have you ever wanted to quit? Never, not once. Challenges occur, but I thrive on them. Every day is a great opportunity to help students and I wouldn't have it any other way.
